I’ve been taking time to transform my Gary Fisher Tassajara into a good road-worthy bike. Not that it wasn’t absolutely fine before, but i haven’t ridden any trails in years and probably won’t anytime soon. On campus there’s not much need for it, though I do ride it around, but over January I’m going to have a teaching internship at a local school(I haven’t talked that!!) that’s about an hour and fifteen minutes away from campus on bike. Given this impotus, I’m in the process of getting new parts and changing them out.
So far, I’ve exchanged my handlebars for a drop bar, and relocated the brake triggers and shifters before wrapping white grip-tape around it. It’s a bit awkward right now, as the new placement gives me much less leverage and my weight’s thrown forward, but I’ll get used to it, and it looks cool as hell to boot.
So far, I’ve only reworked the handlebars, though I’m getting new tires and inner-tubes, tube lining, pedals and toe-nets, and a gear cassette. All together, it’s just over $50.
I’ll be posting more photos as I progress. I can’t tell you how excited I am. I’ve been wanting to do this for so long.
